Thank you for all of your help in making our 1st East Central District PD day a success. 50 teachers registered and we had 45 teachers in attendance. We had tremendous support from several music related companies and I want to thank each of them for their support.
Palen Music Company provided a super breakfast to start our day. Band Instrument Service Company set us up with an amazing lunch. Nottleman Music, Palen Music Company, Midwest Sheet Music, J.W. Pepper, Stanbury Uniforms, Hoffman Robe Company, American Band Accessories and representative Keith Drier (Cherrydale Farms) all provided great gifts and door prizes that we raffled off during the day.
Jeff Melsha inspired everyone with his keynote speech "Why We do What We do."
Ron Sikes gave an in depth look at Charms office assistant software and shared his insight on how it works with his program. Doug Rice shared a thought provoking presentation on "Levels of Musicality". If you missed, you should email him and ask if he can send you his power point presentation.
Sheila Baer presented engaging activities that you or a guest teacher can use to help your students understand solo, duet, and trio etc. Sheila also presented a theme and variation lesson. Both of Sheila's presentations were top notch as always.
Patrick Dell shared the insight to Successful Sight singing with assessment being the key to learning. Choir folks raved about how informative and simple his process was.
During lunch we concluded our meeting with separate meetings for High School/Middle school choir, high School /Middle School Concert and Jazz and Elementary teacher district information meetings.
It was so nice to meet new people and see old friends in a relaxed atmosphere. It was invigorating to watch such great presentations by master teachers. I am proud to be a part of the East Central District!
Have a great school year!
Sincerely,
Chuck Moore
