H.S. /M.S. Band (or Choir)-  "Build your Brand, AND your Band"

Everyone knows that your personal Image is important, but how many of you consider the image of your band?  Does your band have it's own image or identity?  Why is it important?

Build your Brand, and your Band will cover recruiting, retention, and working with administration to help build your program.

The first half of the presentation will talk about branding and developing your band's public image on social media and in your community. Recruiting and retention techniques based on your band's brand will be discussed

The second half of the presentation will cover successfully advocating with your administration about the needs of your program.  Included in this portion would be how to supply admin with facts and figures from the ECD survey. Highlights would be systematic improvements to not only my program, but neighboring districts.  (Darrell Boyer)

Elementary-  Dalcroze Eurythmics
In our time together, we will explore some possibilities within a system of musical education; Dalcroze’s Eurythmics. Eurythmics promotes cognitive development through artistic expression, concentration, improvisation, self-esteem, and  spatial awareness.Techniques incorporating rhythmic movement, aural training, and physical, vocal and instrumental improvisation, bring forth opportunities for children and adults alike to embody the life of music. Eurythmics is a genuine treasure for any Music Classroom. Eurythmics is a genius way to bring students through an exciting, but uncertain path of trial and error. Ultimately, it empowers students to take ownership of their learning. Together, we will dive into a few examples of how Eurythmics might be used in an Elementary Music Classroom. (Kelly Biser)

Elementary- Why Flip Your Classroom?
Participants will engage in 1) discussing what a flipped classroom is; 2) viewing examples of flipped music classroom instructional strategies 3) observing and analyzing student-centered learning activities; and 4) discussing how they can flip their own classrooms. We will conclude with examining various techniques of flipped classrooms at any age level, the benefits for both students and teachers, and how this teaching technique may advance music education in the 21st Century. (Caitlyn Stevenson)
