Sullivan High School

Dear Music Educators of the ECCMEA,
We are looking forward to seeing you at our 4th Annual Professional Development day! We are meeting on August 22nd at Sullivan High School. We look forward to a wonderful time collaborating! Please know we are taking precautions to ensure your safety. Masks are encouraged at this time. We will be practicing social distancing and taking needed precautions with lunch and meetings. Below is a sample itinerary and a list of sponsors. These sponsors have been very willing to help us and some of the companies will have reps at the event if you have any questions.
9:45 Arrive at SHS band room (outside door closest to football stadium)
10:00-10:45 am Keynote Speaker Chris Sprague- MMEA President
11:00-11:40 am Session 1
**Breakout Sessions for MS/HS will be offered twice so that everyone will be able to attend 2 of the sessions.**

HIGH SCHOOL/MIDDLE SCHOOL BAND
  • Aaron Bounds- ECC Band
Smaller ensembles and simplifying (not dumbing down) in a time of Covid-19. Mr. Bounds plans to discuss resources and ideas directors could use for smaller ensembles in the school year 2020-2021. All ideas are welcomed as we discuss what others are planning for the next school year.

HIGH SCHOOL/MIDDLE SCHOOL CHOIR
  • ​Chris Boemler- Festus HS
    • The use of technology for choral educators to be successful in a distance learning situation.
ELEMENTARY
  • Colissa Alexander- Hillsboro Primary/Elem
    • presenting songs, games and rubrics for lower elementary with the Kodaly approach. (All Elementary teachers will stay together for both sessions)
11:45-12:25 pm Session 2

  • Chuck Moore- HS Band VP- round table discussion about changes in the All District audition process.

    • The use of technology for choral educators to be successful in a distance learning situation.
ELEMENTARY
  • Rebecca Shipley-Richard Simpson Elementary
    • Virtual learning in the Elementary Music Classroom (All Elementary teachers will stay together for both sessions)

12:30 pm Area Meetings/Lunch (provided) - Eat with your area group and enjoy lunch while discussing yearly events!
Discuss dates and changes to All District audition procedures for this fall.
1:00 pm Adjournment
1:15 pm E.C. District #7 Executive Board meeting- Choir room
